I hadn't revisited a King book in a while (my favorite author since I was 14), and I decided to give The Outsider a whirl based on a common "Want to Read" recommendation with a friend on Goodreads. per Let me tell you--I wasn't disappointed! From the opening page to the last one, I was hooked. Starting with a murder mystery where the puzzle pieces eventually fell completely apart had me turning each page as quickly as possible (to the turn of 560 pages in 6 days while working full-time). The worst part--I wanted the pieces to fall apart because the good person inside of me just couldn't be satisfied with the person they had stacked up against. Every twist and every turn left you wanting justice for each of the victims--and they were all victims--until you knew you needed the crew to find the outsider that was creating all of this chaos. Love will find a way even if it takes distance and time to do so! I think for this story, that appears to be the thing to remember most. Even when things seem at their toughest, sticking to your dreams and following through on the actions that will have a direct impact will always work out--Zoe shows this to the millionth degree as she navigates the obstacles in front of her to do what is right even if others don't feel it's the right thing at the right time. Getting Sam to help and support her is the final scaffold she needs to reach the next level--read their story--it's heartwarming and shows the good in the world while remembering the bad.

I so was cheering for Jack and company to get a step ahead considering that only one of them ever really had been able to do so--based on their lives so far, it was clear that it was going to take more than one heist to provide Jack with the luck he so desperately needed. It just so happened that he had a solid plan until one little kink started causing issues that unraveled the whole plan for over a decade; however, Jack's recovery was all he deserved and more! Check this book out if you want to read a solid mystery with a feel-good ending!

This trilogy keeps you moving and trying to decide which characters you should be trusting as each day begins anew. I recommend reading all three books in order to really understand the characters and the plots as much as possible. As you learn about the different levels of characters that we have in the book I loved the high school connection that ended up connecting the mafia groups to each other in order to solve each "case" and keep the characters out of trouble. The age difference is one thing that still causes me pause as we see this manifest in several different ways. Peri and Shark together will leave you cheering for the two of them to make it out of all the trouble--deep down, the whys behind their actions are crucial to my movement as a reader through the book. Solid crime story with lots of actions that keep you guessing--must read!
